How this out-of-control financial system is structurally unsustainable, and what this means to society and the environment.
Working Paper, October 2011
This working paper aims at analysing the impacts of this apparently consumption-based system on society and on the natural environment and on the economic and financial system itself. Economic growth is being debated, indicators other than GDP are called for, yet consumerism survives and prospers. We globally consume more and more, running after progress and the promise of a worldly better life. A question then arises, simple and powerful: should we? Should we continue on this path? Are we risking too much? What are the alternatives? What is the price we are going to pay if nothing changes? And what is the price of change?
